We’re planning to have fish and chips this weekend, in honour of our Favourite Family awards! The 2011 winner has been announced, and I’m pleased to congratulate Holly Tree Fish and Chips in Livesey, Blackburn.

Our winning chippy is run by the Rose family, and our judges were really impressed with the strong family values of Holly Tree Fish and Chips and their real commitment to their trade and to the local community.

We set up The Ben Shaws Favourite Family Chippy Awards to recognise the hard work and commitment family run businesses put into making their livelihood a success. The competition has been running throughout 2011 and I’m delighted that we’ve found such deserving winners.

As part of their prize the Rose family will recieve £1,000 worth of experience vouchers, £1,000 donation to their chosen charity which is Sadie’s Pot of Gold http://www.sadiespotofgold.org.uk and a year’s supply of Ben Shaws drinks.

Owner Michael Rose was delighted by the win and said, “We are just astounded that a ‘proper’ local chippy from Blackburn has gone and won!”
